How to use the chrome extension for quick annotations while browsing

The SEO Gets Anywhere Chrome Extension makes it easy to leave annotations while you’re already reviewing pages in Chrome. Instead of stopping your workflow to open a report first, you can add a note in the moment and keep a clean record of what changed, when it changed, and which pages were affected.

You’ll need an SEO Gets account before you can use the extension. If you haven’t connected your accounts yet, start with the Quickstart Guide.

Install the Chrome Extension

  1. Open the SEO Gets Chrome Extension page in the Chrome Web Store.

  2. Click Add to Chrome.

  3. Review the permissions prompt, then confirm the install.

  4. Pin the extension to your toolbar if you want faster access while browsing.

Add an annotation while browsing

  1. Open a page on a site that’s connected to SEO Gets.

  2. Click the SEO Gets extension in your Chrome toolbar.

  3. Use the extension to start a new annotation.

  4. Fill in the annotation details:

    • Title for the change or event

    • Description with extra context

    • Affected pages for the URLs tied to the update

  5. Save the annotation.

Once it’s saved, the annotation syncs with SEO Gets so you can review it later with your performance data.

Where annotations show up in SEO Gets

Your annotations appear as markers on the performance graph in SEO Gets. SEO Gets also adds annotations for Google core updates automatically to help you connect traffic or ranking changes to specific events.

You can also open the annotations report to view, filter, edit, delete, and analyze your annotations in one place.

Why quick annotations are useful

Quick annotations are helpful when you notice something worth tracking and don’t want to lose the moment. They’re a good fit for things like publishing a new page, updating content, changing metadata, revising internal links, or launching an SEO test.

They also make collaboration easier because your notes stay attached to the timeline inside SEO Gets instead of getting buried in chat messages or spreadsheets.
