Transfer account ownership or change your login email
SEO Gets doesn't have a separate Owner role, so handing your account to someone else means making the new person an Admin, verifying they can get in, and then removing the former member. The same handoff is how you switch your login email, which is tied to your Google account and can't be changed directly.
How account handoff works
Anyone with the Admin role has full control over the workspace, including billing, team management, and super site upgrades. Giving someone Admin access is the closest thing to transferring ownership β there's no Owner title that moves between people.
The email you log in with is tied to your Google account and can't be changed in SEO Gets. The new admin must sign in with the exact Google account that matches the invited email, and that's the account they'll use from then on.
Make the new person an admin
Only admins can invite members or change roles, so an existing admin on the workspace runs this part. Use the route that fits: invite someone who isn't in the workspace yet, or promote a teammate who already is.
Invite a new person as admin
Click your profile and choose Settings.
Go to Team β Team Members.
Click the option to invite a new member.
Enter the email of the Google account the new admin will sign in with.
Choose Admin as their role.
Click Send.
They accept the invite by signing in with the exact Google account that matches the invited email. If they use a different Google account, they'll see an error telling them to use the invited email. Invite troubleshooting, including what to do if the invite email doesn't arrive, is covered in Invite team members.
Promote an existing teammate to admin
If the person taking over is already on your team, change their role instead of sending a new invite.
Open Settings β Team β Team Members.
Find the teammate you want to promote.
Click the three dots to the left of their profile.
Select Admin and click Save.
They now have full workspace control and can manage billing and other admins. For more on the role options, see Update roles.
Verify the new admin's access
Before you remove the former member, confirm the new admin can get into the workspace and see everything they need.
Ask the new admin to sign in to SEO Gets with their own Google account.
Confirm they can see the workspace's sites and shared reports.
Have them open Settings β Team β Team Members β only admins can see this page, which confirms their admin access.
Remove the former member
Only admins can remove members. Before you do, check that the former member's Google account isn't the only account providing Search Console access to a property your team needs β that property can disappear from the workspace when the account behind it leaves the team.
In Settings β Team β Team Members, find the former member.
Click the three dots to the left of their profile.
Click Remove.
Confirm the removal in the browser dialog.
Removing someone ends their access to the workspace. It doesn't delete their SEO Gets account or Google account, and it doesn't remove sites, reports, or connected properties. If a Search Console property stops showing up after the removal, see Recover Search Console access.
If you've lost access to the old Google account
If the old Google account is deactivated or you can't sign in to it, and no other admin is left in the workspace, you can't run these steps yourself. Contact support with the former account's email address, your company name, and the email addresses of the people who need access. Support can restore workspace access or guide you through reconnecting your properties β see Recover access after account deactivation for the full recovery path.
Keep at least two admins on every workspace so a single departure never locks the team out. If an admin leaves without a handoff, see Recover workspace access after a team member leaves.
