Grouping

By acquisition channel

Want to track how different traffic sources perform in search? Group your content by acquisition channel to see which channels drive visibility, which need work, and where your best opportunities hide.

Group pages by landing page type (Content Groups)

Create Content Groups for URL patterns that represent different acquisition sources. This works well when you build dedicated landing pages for specific campaigns or channels.

Examples of common URL patterns for acquisition channels:

  • Paid landing pages: /lp/ or /landing/

  • Email campaign pages: ?utm_campaign=welcome_series or ?utm_source=newsletter

  • Social campaign pages: ?utm_source=facebook or ?utm_source=instagram

  • Affiliate or partner pages: /partner/ or /affiliate/

Use a simple pattern like /lp/ if all your paid pages share that folder. Use regex if your landing pages live in different spots but follow a naming convention. If you're applying UTM parameters to URLs, you can use those to identify acquisition channels as well.

After setup, filter your dashboard by each Content Group to see how those specific pages perform in organic search. This is especially useful for catching pages that were built for paid or email but are now attracting organic traffic.

See Content Groups for full setup steps.
